Germany’s most successful motorsport-series offers a wide range of racecars and exciting races, since 1977. Today 28 classes and up to 200 teams regularly compete and fight for rankings and of course the overall victory. The long-distance races demand the ultimate concentration from both the drivers and teams. Four to six hours, man and machine have to perform at their best.
It’s not for nothing that the track is known as the Green Holle, The Green Hell!
Purple Dot have our own VLN race team, racing in the most competitive class for the BMW M235i.
With the impressive performance figures, the BMW M235i Racing – a production-based coupé – meets all the basic requirements of a successful entry-level racing car. The car is used in the VLN Endurance Championship and the Nürburgring 24 Hours.
The BMW M235i Racing is also successful on international stages for BMW Sports Trophy drivers.

The Purple Dot BMW is run by Walkenhorst Racing, a family-run business with years of experience in the VLN Championship. Walkenhorst are a factory supported team, running test and race programmes on behalf of BMW. They prepare two BMW 235’s and also two of the amazing M6 Cars in the top SP9 category.
The team regularly have factory contracted drivers, driving both types of car. This makes sure the BMW factory engineers are always working closely with us, and of course means anyone in our Purple Dot car gets to have an excellent comparison with the factory drivers.
The structure of the team is excellent as you would expect, the Purple Dot car has a full-time engineer, and two dedicated technicians who maintain the car during the events. The Walkenhorst team has an overall team manager who oversees the car alongside our team mates.
Of course, one major benefit to Walkenhorst and its BMW links is that any driver who impresses in the Purple Dot car can easily attract the attention of Walkenhorst for their other M6 and Blancpain Endurance programmes.
Purple Dot – Walkenhorst Racing – BMW
Truly a winning team.
